How to care:

Wool is a beautiful and somewhat delicate product. It has the property to self clean if we let it.

I do not use any superwash wool.

Superwash is a (synthetic) resin coating over the wool fiber to create longer lasting colours and makes the product less sensitive to felt. It does, however destroy natural properties of wool like self cleaning and moisture regulation. Because i use only natural, non-superwash wool the products require a bit more care when washing.

Here are some tips for taking care of a sweater I made or any other woolen items:

As said wool is self cleaning, you do not need to wash it often, best not to. You can air your piece outside over night, preferably when its a little cold out. This will give it a refreshment.

When you feel it is time to do a real cleaning, you can wash it by hand with a little soap and medium warm water, do not move the wool too much. When you take it out of the water gently squeeze out the water, do not wring. Lay the item flat to dry, do not hang

Best protection againt moths is wearing and using the item, moths don't like movement, light and airflow.

When you store your item for a longer period I recommend to place it in a zipper bag or a transparent container, so moths can not enter. Some Cedar wood/oil, or eucalypt leaves/oil will repel wool moths.

Hand Dyed - natural dyes

The colours made by me are plant dyes, this means that i use plants leaves, bark, etc.

To fix the dye to the fibers I use natural mordants, this makes the colours last longer.

It is important to not hang the piece of clothing out in the sun for a longer period, just to dry it or refresh it, but again best to refresh it over night.

Keep in mind natural dyes are natural, they are not always the exactly the same and I can not always create the same colour again. So often my products are unique pieces. If you like to order something that i have created using natural dyes, know that i will try my best to recreate the same colour, but they might differ a little. I call this the magic of plants, they keep on surprising me.
